The Armstrong Siddeley Owners Club (ASOC) in the UK is about to order sets of bumper bars and over-riders manufactured in Stainless Steel. (See photo above). The ASOC advises that it is virtually impossible to distinguish them from re-chromed original ones. The same company that produces bumpers for Aston Martin, Jaguars and other classic cars and is the leading company in the field is manufacturing them. A set comprises front and rear bumpers, four over-riders, four bolts and rubber grommets. I have looked at the costs involved in importing these items and it is beyond the scope of Armstrong Siddeley Spares (Australia) to purchase them. The price of a set for Armstrong Siddeley Owners Club members (ASOC) is £975, which equates to approximately AUD$1555.00. These figures will fluctuate depending on the rate of exchange. (Non-members of the ASOC may wish to consider joining the ASOC otherwise they will be charged a higher price). In addition to the price quoted, Australian Customs advised there will be a charge of 5% duty (Customs Tariff Schedule 3 Ref.8708.10 refers) and 10% GST to pay. Freight charges will also apply, which may be in the vicinity of AUD$160.00. As the price is over AUD$1000.00 Australian Customs advised that an import declaration certificate will be required, obtainable from an Australian Customs Agent.
